Can I use your blend whilst I’m pregnant?

Are your ingredients from Australia?

Kapai Puku sources ingredients from Australia where possible and overseas as required.

Where can I buy your products?

Kapai Puku is available to purchase on our website at www.kapaipuku.com and is available  throughout Australia at Coles, in reputable fruit and vegetables stores and Grocery Shops, most Go Vita Stores, and selected health food stores.

Can I purchase Kapai Puku overseas?

We currently do not distribute our product overseas.

How much should I use?

We recommend 3-4 tablespoons (50g serve) per day to gain maximum benefits, of course it doesn’t hurt to have more.

Is Kapai Puku gluten free?

Yes.

Can I use your blend if I’m on a FODMAP diet?

We recommend you use Kapai Puku Liver Health if you are on a FODMAP diet. The Gut and Skin Health contain raisins and the Taki Bars contain chicory and inulin which are fructons, all of which are recommended to be eliminated from a FODMAP diet. However, with the Gut and Skin Health blends the raisins are in small amounts and can be picked out prior to consumption.

Do your products contain nuts?

No. Kapai Puku does not contain any nuts however it is mixed and packed on equipment that also processes other products containing tree nuts and gluten. All machinery is thoroughly washed and dried 24 hours prior to packing.

Can I eat too much of the seed blend?

We recommend a 50g serving (3-4 tablespoons) per day for a healthy balanced diet however you can add more to your diet if desired. If you choose to increase your intake ensure your water intake is adequate.

Can I feed Kapai Puku to my pets?

Yes and no. The majority of the ingredients contained in our products are fine for animal consumption; however buckwheat can be a problem as pets are unable to digest it properly. Additionally, pets with individual allergies associated with our ingredients should not consume this product. If feeding Kapai Puku to your pet, it is recommended that you soak the seeds in water first to aid digestion.

Dogs cannot properly digest Raisins and Chocolate. Liver Health may be suitable, but we would recommend that you discuss your pets diet with your vet before feeding them any Kapai Puku.

What blend is right for me?

All our products are free from most ingredients which cannot be tolerated by those with allergies or intolerances such as gluten, dairy, wheat, yeast and nuts. For those with diabetes, fructose intolerance or following a FODMAP food plan, the Liver Health is recommended as it is completely free from sugar.

Kapai Puku is great for vegetarians and vegans as it does not have traces of animal products or by products and provides a great source of protein and essential vitamins and minerals.

Kapai Puku can aid those looking for weight loss or detoxification as the high amount of protein, fiber and healthy fats will assist in suppressing appetite, regulating blood sugar levels, aiding digestion and speeding up the metabolism. Those looking to gain muscle should also incorporate Kapai Puku into their diet as it aids in fat loss and provides essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals and high levels of protein to aid recovery.

We recommend that you try all our products in order to decide for yourself which blend you prefer.

If you are looking for a pure seed blend, go for Kapai Puku No. 1 Liver Health.

For an every day blend with a mixture of seeds and dried fruit (raisins), go for Kapai Puku No. 1 Gut Health.

If you want something indulgent and bursting with antioxidants, try Kapai Puku No. 1 Skin Health, which has a chocolate taste from the added Cacao Nibs.

Can I eat Kapai Puku if I’m breast feeding?

Kapai Puku may be consumed if you are breast feeding however we recommend you seek medical advice for specific individual dietary requirements.

What is the vegetable oil used on the Raisins?

No.  There is nothing added to the Raisins in the drying process.  100% Naturally Sun Dried Australian Grown Raisins which are Sulphur Dioxide Free.

Are the ingredients GM free?

Yes.

Are there any preservative or additives in any of these products?

Kapai Puku Gut Health, Liver Health and Skin Health are all free of preservatives and additives and made from the best natural ingredients. Kapai Puku Hair Health whilst also made from natural ingredients, does have a very small low dosage of Sulphur Dioxide (220) in the small quantity of Diced Mangos contained within the blend.

Are Kapai Puku products certified organic?

Due to cross-contamination with seeds, our product cannot be classified organic or certified organic.

Are Kapai Puku products okay for children?

Most definitely! Kapai Puku can be added to children’s meals and we often suggest to make in to a healthy snack bar for lunch boxes. As they do not contain nuts, the blends can be consumed without the potential of causing allergic reactions for those suffering nut allergies. When introducing Kapai Puku into a child’s diet start with a small amount, such as half a serve, and soak seeds if required to allow the body to adjust to the high fiber content.

Is it low GI?

Yes. The combination of healthy fats, protein and slow release carbohydrates make Kapai Puku a great low GI product.

Which blend should I use if I’m diabetic?

We recommend the Liver Health as it is completely free of sugar.

Do I need to soak the seeds before eating?

No. However soaking seeds can make them easier to digest.

Do I need to keep the Kapai Puku blends refrigerated?

To retain nutritional quality we do recommend keeping your bag of Kapai Puku sealed and refrigerated.

Does eating Kapai Puku make you thirsty?

No, however when consuming Kapai Puku ensure your water intake is adequate.

Will Kapai Puku help if I’m an IBS sufferer?

Some insoluble fibers, especially nuts, seeds and legumes, can make IBS symptoms worse. Additionally IBS is often caused/triggered by food intolerances including the impaired absorption of sugars including lactose, fructose and sorbitol. We recommend you seek medical advice prior to incorporating Kapai Puku into your diet. If it is safe for you to use Kapai Puku, due to its high fiber content, you can gradually increase the amount you use over a long period of time in order to give the bowel time to adjust. As with any increase in dietary fiber, it is only effective if fluid intake is adequate.

Can I eat Kapai Puku as a part of a Paleo diet?

The Paleolithic diet consists of foods that can be hunted and fished, such as meat, offal and seafood, and can be gathered, such as eggs, insects, fruit, nuts, seeds, vegetables, mushrooms, herbs and spices.

Are the products Halal?

The term Halal is most commonly used to designate food seen as permissible according to Islamic Law and usually refers to meat products. Some food products can be halal (permissible) without being certified which applies to Kapai Puku as it’s vegetarian.

I have noticed that at times there appears to be different ratios of raisins in the Skin Health and Gut Health blends between packets. Why is this occurring?

Although we endeavour to ensure our products contain the same ratio of ingredients, due to our packaging process we can not guarantee this. However, if it appears there are fewer raisins within the blend, shake the bag up as the raisins weigh more, they tend to settle at the bottom of the pack. If you prefer fewer or no raisins in your Kapai Puku, go for our Liver Health.

I am a female on a weight loss plan and watching my calorie intake, I would like to know the calories per serve in your products?

Kapai Puku is a great addition to any weight loss diet as it helps to suppress the appetite, increase the metabolism and aid digestion. If using Kapai Puku, it is recommended that you use the recommended serving of 3-4 tablespoons (50g) daily. This amount can be spread over the day by adding 1-2 tablespoons to your breakfast cereal/porridge, smoothies, salad and sandwiches for example. Our blends contain between 230-240 calories per 50g and on a 1500 calorie eating plan, this would equate to 16% of your recommend daily intake (RDI). If looking to maintain your weight, based on 2000 calories per day a 50g serve would equate to 12% RDI. As most plans recommend 1-2 snacks per day of approximately 100 to 150 calories, it is worthwhile making your own bars using Kapai Puku’s bar recipes, as a great natural treat to snack on. This will keep you feeling fuller for longer due to the combination of healthy fats protein and slow release carbohydrates.

I want to bulk up. Which blend should I use?

Our Kapai Puku blends contain between 7.6 and 9.7 grams of protein per 50g serve, with the Liver Health having the highest levels of protein. However all our blend are a great complement to any clean eating plan designed to lower body fat and increase muscle mass.

There has been a lot of press recently regarding the affects of sugar in our diet and how it is attributed to weight gain. Are your products low in sugar?

Both our Liver and Skin Health contain less than 6g of sugar per 100g, which classifies it as low in sugar. Our Gut Health has 10.8g per 100g, but this sugar is from the dried raisins, not added sugar. At 0.3g of sugar per 100g our Liver Health is the best option if looking at reducing your sugar intake.

Postage Costs:

Postage costs vary per state and only increase marginally for the additional weight and dimensions of the order. It does work out to be cost-effective when purchasing more stock, less frequently to take advantage of this overall savings. Kapai Puku has a good lifespan of up to 1 year, so long as it’s kept in a cool location and refrigerated after opening. We aim to release your order within 48 hours of business hours. Is Kapai Puku vegetarian and vegan friendly?

Most of our products are vegetarian and vegan friendly and provide a great non animal source of protein, healthy fats and essential vitamins and minerals. Kapai Puku also supplies products to the Sea Shepard crew who are vegan.
